The Paradise Regional Recreation Center will undergo an 18-month demolition and rebuild project starting in August 2025. The surrounding areas will be home to numerous construction vehicles, equipment, and personnel throughout the project.
To ensure everyone’s safety, certain areas of the Paradise Recreation Complex will be closed for varying periods.
The Paradise Recreation swimming pool and adjacent amenities will be closing on August 15, 2025, for the duration of the project.

The Mark Twain Library will close approximately 6 weeks before the closure of the Paradise Regional Recreation Center. This is to allow the Library volunteers and District Staff time to box and store all the library contents. The Mark Twain Library will host a celebratory event prior to closure to commemorate their success as they look forward to the delivery of a brand new, larger and modernized Mark Twain Library when we cut the ribbon on the new Paradise Regional Recreation Center in 2027.
After more than a year of detailed architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and landscape plan design and development, as well as a series of detailed reviews by the Recreation and Parks Department and District Property Management, the final Bid Package was completed and the Invitation to Bid was released. More than 20 Contractors attended the Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference. Bids for this project are due late April 2025. We anticipate this project to be awarded in May or June 2025 with a mobilization and closure in August 2025. This project is estimated to take approximately 18-22 months to complete from closure.
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held onsite in the Spring with the Amenity Authority Committee to celebrate the start of bringing this modern amenity to the Historic side of
The Villages.
District Staff presented the Conceptual Design Plan Presentation to the Amenity Authority Committee during the November 2023 Meeting.
During the June 2023 Amenity Authority Committee Meeting, District Staff presented the Final Concept Design Plan Presentation to the to gain direction on proceeding with detailed design phase, development of construction and issue of bid documents and RFP for bidding phase.
District Staff presented the Conceptual Design Plan Presentation to the Amenity Authority Committee during the March 2023 Meeting.
The Resident Survey results were presented to the AAC during the November 2022 Meeting.
The Resident Survey conducted ran from October 3, 2022 until October 28, 2022.
During the August 2022 Amenity Authority Committee (AAC) Meeting, District Staff gave a presentation on the Proposed Capital Improvement Project for the Demolition and Rebuild of the Paradise Regional Recreation Center to gain AAC direction on proceeding with conceptual design plans and resident input survey.
The Amenity Authority Committee authorized the District to proceed with developing conceptual design plans and initiating a resident survey on desired amenity improvements for the Paradise Recreation Center.
