A Local Mitigation Strategy is a proactive process that helps communities become more resilient to natural and man-made hazards. By assessing risks and updating county hazard mitigation plans, LMS identifies vulnerabilities and develops both short- and long-term strategies to reduce damage, loss, and disruption—ultimately protecting people, infrastructure, and the community as a whole.
