Community Watch Programs
House Check Program
The House Check Program is a service available to all residents who will be leaving the area for more than seven days. Residents signing up for this program will have a Community Watch patrol driver check the outside of their home three times a week. The patrol driver checks the perimeter of the house on foot and keeps an eye out for broken windows, unlocked doors, packages left at the front door, etc. Patrol drivers do not enter the home. Please have a local key holder that we may contact in case of an emergency. The key holder can access your home to address problems the patrol driver has identified. The cost for this program is $5.35 a week. You can sign up for this program at the Customer Service Office located at 984 Old Mill Run in Lake Sumter Landing or the Customer Service Satellite Office at 4856 South Morse Boulevard. The office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
House Check Program Application
Resident Out of Area Program
The Resident Out of Area Program is also a program for people who will be leaving The Villages for more than seven days. This program is different from the House Check Program. Community Watch does not actually check your home in this program. Community Watch only notifies the home owner in the event of a natural disaster such as a fire, tornado, thunderstorm, etc. and we will advise you if your home has been damaged. We would then use the emergency contact information you have provided us to contact you or another person you designate. The Resident Out of Area Program also has a benefit to emergency responders and other residents. In natural disaster incidents time is of the essence in searching homes for injured residents. Listing your home with the Resident Out of Area Program will let us know that no one is in your home. Emergency search and rescue teams will know to skip your home and therefore be able to concentrate their efforts on occupied homes. There is no fee for this service. You can sign up for this program over the phone by calling the Customer Service office at (352) 753-4508 or vising the Customer Service Office at 984 Old Mill Run in Lake Sumter Landing or the Customer Service Satellite Office at 4856 South Morse Boulevard. Remember however, that this program is for emergency purposes only. If you would like your home checked on a regular basis by Community Watch, please refer to the House Check program.
Out of Area Program Application
Adult Watch Program
The Adult Watch Program is a service provided for residents that live alone or residents with a partner who need someone to give them a call to make sure they are in good standing. A resident or the power of attorney for a resident can come into the Customer Service Office at 984 Old Mill Run in Lake Sumter Landing or the Customer Service Satellite Office at 4856 South Morse Boulevard to sign up for this program. Residents requesting these well being checks may choose to receive calls everyday or once a week. You can choose the time of day you want to be called. The Community Watch Dispatch Center will call, and if there is not an answer they will wait to call back in 5 minutes. If there is still no answer with the second call, dispatch will send a patrol driver over to check on the resident. The Patrol Driver will work with a designated key holder to check on the resident. If the Patrol Driver and the key holder are not able to locate the resident or access the home fire/rescue and law enforcement personnel are summoned. There is no fee for this service.
