Community Improvement Council (CIC) Seeking New Members

Looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity? The CIC will be conducting an informational meeting for any resident who is interested in becoming a candidate on July 6, 2009 at 8:30 am at Laurel Manor Regional Recreation Center. Applications for CIC membership will be accepted through July 31, 2009. New Member Announcement. Application.

La Hacienda Regional Recreation Center Temporarily Closed for Renovations

We are very excited to announce that the renovation project is currently under way! Click here for site plan. However, for those residents who normally visit La Hacienda for their recreation needs, most of the services have been temporarily transferred to the Paradise Regional Recreation Center. Those services include: Guest ID, Executive Trail Fees, Internet Guest Passes and Lost and Found. If you have any questions regarding Recreation services, please call 753-1716. The Villages Protected Species of Wildlife Guide

Have you ever wondered what a Southeastern American Kestral looks like and why it is a protected species? How about a Limpkin or a Sherman’s Fox Squirrel? If you would like to learn more about these protected species and more, please stop by the District Customer Service Center at 3201 Wedgewood Lane or call a Customer Service Representative at 352-753-4508 to obtain a CD with this valuable information. Don’t forget to share with your neighbors so everyone can enjoy the spectacular wildlife here in The Villages!

Marion County Residents

In November 2008, Marion County established an ordinance regulating the use of Nitrogen and/or phosphorus baring fertilizers as part of a multi-pronged effort by Marion County to reduce nutrient runoff to surface waters and leaching into ground water. The leaching and runoff of nutrients from improper or excess fertilization and/or irrigation practices can contribute to nitrogen and phosphorus pollution in the Marion County storm water and drainage conveyances, springs, and other natural water bodies. CDD Orientation Important Announcement!

Effective Thursday, May 7th, the CDD Orientation class is moving from its current location on Laurel Manor Drive to the District offices at 3201 Wedgewood Lane. The classes will continue to be offered every Thursday from 10:00am to 12:00pm. The classes will be conducted in the Conference Room at the east end of the building next to the Customer Service Center. Please call 753-4508 if you have any questions or need any additional information.

Sumter County Transit Villages Route Schedules and Maps

The Sumter County Board of County Commissioners Community Services Department is responsible for the administration of the Sumter County Transit Program. Whether for you, a neighbor or a friend, Sumter County Transit can provide safe transportation to the doctor’s office, shopping or to just visit a friend. CERT Special Needs Registration

As Villages residents, it is imperative that each and every one of us is prepared for 2008 storm season. A vital part of the preparation process is ensuring that all special needs residents are registered with the Villages Public Safety Department so that in the event of evacuation to a shelter, local emergency management personnel are aware of those needs. Please take a moment to read this informative brochure and, if necessary, complete the special needs form provided.
